The Telephone Psychics (remember those?) got a bonus to control weak groups (because, you know, only the weak believe Telephone Psychics.) The original game had some groups that were mostly just stats the abilities gave it flavor. The original had about 15 cards, the CCG had, well, 200.Įvery single group had a special ability. It vastly expanded the idea of "Plots"-one-off cards that let you do something, like permanently change a group Liberal, or give a bonus to an attack.

What INWO, the CCG version did, was codify a few things: Conversely, a Peaceful group would get a bonus to destroy a Violent group. If you were trying to control a Peaceful group with another Peaceful group, you'd get a bonus.and a penalty if a Violent group tried. The key to this expansion was alignments.most groups had an alignment, like Violent or Peaceful. Your rivals were attempting to destroy your groups as you were trying to control your own. Your "conspiracy" would expand out, spider-web like, as you got more powerful. If you are unaware, the idea behind Illuminati is that certain groups control other groups.so your main Illuminati (say, the Gnomes of Zurich) could control the CIA, and the Republicans, and Fast Food Chains.and then, in turn, the CIA could control the Mossad and Video Games, and so on. So, yeah, if this has a solo vs AI mode that is even a quarter way decent (and preferably has difficulty scaling), I am so on board with it. I also have the complete 80s pocket game reprints which include Illuminati (need to open it up, but I hope it is the old 80s card set instead of the "updated to be topical" card set).

it was the big red box I picked up for cheap with shrink on it from a used game store, the booster packs included still in shrink, but the rulebook got set on something sticky and was damaged.
